The construction of the Tronoša Monastery wasstarted by King Dragutin, and completed by his wife Katelina in 1317. Themonastery is located not far from the village of Tršić, next to Loznica. Withthe arrival of the Ottomans, Tronoša was razed to the ground. The church wasrebuilt in 1559. After coming to power, Prince Miloš Obrenović ordered that Tronoša be restored, as a sign of gratitudebecause the monks of this monastery participated in all the important events ofSerbian history. Tronoša suffered destruction also in the First World War;during the Battle of Cer, wounded Serbian soldiers were brought to themonastery. At the end of the 18th century, there was a school in Tronoša whichwas attended also by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić.
