Stevan Aleksić comes from a familyof painters. He studied painting at the Academy in Munich.His opus consistsof some230 paintings, and he also painted over20 churches with over 100 icons.He was among the first to introducethe ideas of symbolism into Serbian painting. The large estate owner Jovan Jagodićcommissioned a painting from Stevan Aleksić in which the people of Banat areeven more gregarious than those in the famous work by Uroš Predić.The painter foundinspiration for such revelers in his neighborhood in the village of Modoš, inthe famous tavernKod tri guza.The painting is held in the collection of theZrenjanin National Museum.
